Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
In this movie there is a scene where Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) was in a race car competition. He was in a car crash. His car hit the wall and then flipped over. He jumped out the car and started to run around yelling that he was on fire. Yelling for Tom Cruise to use witchcraft to get the fire off of him. The medical people tried to catch him and get him to calm down and let him know that he wasn't on fire in the first place. He calmed down for a while and then jumped up again yelling that he was on fire again. He was placed in the hospital. They didn't think that he belonged in there but he wanted to go. They said that he was taking a nap but he thought that he was in a coma. When he finally woke up, he thought that he was paralysed. All of his friends knew that everything with him was ok but, he thought otherwise. He was later convienced that he wasn't in any kind of condition that he thought he was in.
I chose this movie because when he crashed he thought that he was on fire. This is a sign of schizophrenia found in Chapter 12. Although it didn't last long, he was still imaging things that wasn't there. He thought he was on fire but in reality he wasn't. Also he showed a sign of denial. When his friends tried to tell him that everything was ok he denied it all. Denial is found in Chapter 11. He didn't want to accept the fact that everything is ok.

This is a great movie and u did well tying it in with psychology.
I think this is a really creative movie to relate to psychology. When Ricky Bobby thought that he was paralyzed, he may have been suffering from a somatoform disorder or specifically a conversion disorder. You also said he was in denial and didn’t want to believe everything was ok. He also could have been repressing his bad memories. I think you did a really good job on picking this movie because there are many different ways you could relate it to our class and psychology.
This is a great choice of a movie to use as a example that relates to psychology class. During the movie Ricky Bobby displayed many signs of conversion disorder. Ricky Bobby shows Conversion disorder in this movie because he appears to be paralyzed after his accident, when he's really in top shape.
I really enjoyed watching this movie. It was a very funny movie. The hallucination that he went through was a good example of Chapter 12.
