Monk Season 5
It's late, and Monk finds himself at a seedy, dimly-lit bar in the worst part of town. He's there because a mysterious man has offered him five hundred dollars just to meet with him. Monk sits across from the man in a shadowy booth, barely able to see the man's face. The man introduces himself as Derek Bronson. Monk knows the name. Derek Bronson is a millionaire who has been presumed dead since disappearing seven years ago. Bronson tells Monk his story. He got lost at sea in a ballooning accident, but after surviving the accident, he contracted a horrible disease and decided never to return to civilization. Bronson leans forward into the light, revealing a disfigured and bandaged face. Bronson has leprosy. Monk runs from the scene. He wants no part of this nightmarish client, despite Bronson's generous offer of $25,000 to take his case. But Natalie, conscious of the money and sympathetic to Bronson's plight, convinces Monk to keep an open mind. They visit a doctor, an expert on leprosy named Aaron Polanski, who reassures Monk that there is minimal risk of contracting the disease. Monk agrees to talk to Bronson for a second time.
I chose this one because Monk has many different phobias and he also has OCD (found in Chapter 12). Everytime he shakes someone's hand, he has to use an wet wipe to clean his hand. He's always washing his hands and keeping everything in order for his thought of safety. He doesn't like for his food to touch when on his plate. He has phobias of milk, sand, snakes, flying, and many more. In this episode, he shook the man with leprosy hand. He had no idea about the man having the disease. When he found, he ran out the bar and ran all the way home. Monk decided that he was ok with the leprosy disease because it wasn't contagious but, when told that the leper called his house, he threw his telephone in the trash. He started thinking that the disease was spreading up his arm so he decided to set his had on fire.

Monk has OCD that makes him great at his job because he will notice anything that is out of place becuse he is more aware of the thing around him. Monk has used his OCD to help many people. This is a good example of sublimation which is the transfer of aggressive, negative or any toher behavor into a positive, or differnet behavors. Great Project
I love this show! Watching Monk co through challenges is hilarious. I can not imagin how it feels to have OCD. It must very frustrated for people who actually have the disease.Being afraid all the time must be really hard.
I never watched the show. From I read I understand phobias and OCD problems. You did a good job with tying to Chapter 12. Good job with your blog
