HOUSE Being Antisocial

HOUSE Being Antisocial

House is an innovative take on medical drama. The show solves mysteries where the villain is a medical malady and the hero is an irreverent, controversial doctor who trusts no one, least of all his patients. The show star is Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) who is devoid of bedside manner and dealing with his own constant physical pain. He uses a cane that seems to punctuate his acerbic, brutally honest demeanor. House's behavior can be border line to antisocial. He thrives to solve medical puzzles in order to save the patient life.He can be very selfish and sometimes impulsive.

I chose this TV show because it shows how some people can be antisocial. Although House works in a hosptial and has to work with a lot of other people, he still has the antisocial trait. Antisocial (found in Chapter 12) maybe caused by the fact the he has a leg problem. He can be rude and selfish to anyone he chooses. I'm not sure if they really know what happened to his leg but he tends to not talk about it. When he's thinking about different ways to save patients, he sometimes keeps it all to himself. He does some illegal things also when working with the patients in the hospital. Majority of these signs that he show are traits from the antisocial behavior.

The Biggest Loser's Biggest Couple

The Biggest Loser's Biggest Couple

In this article of In Touch Weekly Magazine, it tells of a couple thats trying their best to lose weight. They're trying to lose weight together. The couple runs a catering business. Ed Brantley, who, along with his wife Heba Salama, is one half of the heaviest couple on the NBC reality show. "I'm a foodie and i love working with food, but it's a constant temptation," Ed, a chef who weighs 335 pounds at 31 years of age. His wife Heba weighs 294 pounds at 30 years of age. They both hopes that the show will give them a wake up call. Ed says that he loves eating food; it's what pays his bills. Heba says she'll be happy to get below 200 pounds.

I chose this article because it deals with the pleasure from the ID and the motivation to want to lose the weight. The ID (found in Chapter 11) is whats telling them to eat the food. Ed is a chef so he's always working with food. It's true that food can be a temptation also. What motivates them to want to lose the weight? Motivation (found in Chapter 8) is the factors that influence the initiation, direction, intensity, and persistence of behavior. The couple may have kids that will need them one day, so they decided to lose the weight. They know that they both have a purpose in life so they know it would be right for them to do something about their weight.

Pirates of the Caribbean 3 - At World's End

Pirates of the Caribbean 3 - At World's End
In this movie Captain Jack Sparrow is trapped on a sea of sad in Davy Jones' Locker. While he is there he is seeing more than one character of himself. The characters talk with each other and they are also on a ship. There is no water but they think that they are at sea. While Captain Jack Sparrow is not only the captain of the ship, he is also all the other characters on the ship. Carrying out all the duties that needed to be done at one time. While on the ship, he shoots one of his characters. As always there will be limited amounts of food on a ship full of people. He shot the other character because he wanted the peanut that the character had. Just thinking to myself- If every character on the ship is you, how could fight over food with yourself? Later in that scene he thought he seen a bunch of crabs carrying his ship away. As the movie continues he is later captured and jailed while on a different ship. He once again sees more characters of himself. While imprisoned on the ship he also sees his good and bad consciousness. His consciousness was telling him what he should do while he was in his situation.

I chose this movie because Captain Jack Sparrow was hullucinating. Your not suppose to see your consciousness. His bad consciousness was working with the ID (found in Chapter 11) and dealing with pleasure. His good consciousness was working with the SUPEREGO. He also showed a sign of DID-Dissociative Identity Disorder (found in Chapter 12). When he seen the different characters of himself and they each had a different personality. Although they are all the same person, they each had different personality. Also when he seen the many crabs carrying away his ship, he was hallucinating (found in Chapter 12). There was a lot of crabs but, none of them could carry away a big wooden ship. Not even if with the teamwork that they had.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
In this movie there is a scene where Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) was in a race car competition. He was in a car crash. His car hit the wall and then flipped over. He jumped out the car and started to run around yelling that he was on fire. Yelling for Tom Cruise to use witchcraft to get the fire off of him. The medical people tried to catch him and get him to calm down and let him know that he wasn't on fire in the first place. He calmed down for a while and then jumped up again yelling that he was on fire again. He was placed in the hospital. They didn't think that he belonged in there but he wanted to go. They said that he was taking a nap but he thought that he was in a coma. When he finally woke up, he thought that he was paralysed. All of his friends knew that everything with him was ok but, he thought otherwise. He was later convienced that he wasn't in any kind of condition that he thought he was in.

I chose this movie because when he crashed he thought that he was on fire. This is a sign of schizophrenia found in Chapter 12. Although it didn't last long, he was still imaging things that wasn't there. He thought he was on fire but in reality he wasn't. Also he showed a sign of denial. When his friends tried to tell him that everything was ok he denied it all. Denial is found in Chapter 11. He didn't want to accept the fact that everything is ok.

MR. MONK AND THE LEPER

Monk Season 5
It's late, and Monk finds himself at a seedy, dimly-lit bar in the worst part of town. He's there because a mysterious man has offered him five hundred dollars just to meet with him. Monk sits across from the man in a shadowy booth, barely able to see the man's face. The man introduces himself as Derek Bronson. Monk knows the name. Derek Bronson is a millionaire who has been presumed dead since disappearing seven years ago. Bronson tells Monk his story. He got lost at sea in a ballooning accident, but after surviving the accident, he contracted a horrible disease and decided never to return to civilization. Bronson leans forward into the light, revealing a disfigured and bandaged face. Bronson has leprosy. Monk runs from the scene. He wants no part of this nightmarish client, despite Bronson's generous offer of $25,000 to take his case. But Natalie, conscious of the money and sympathetic to Bronson's plight, convinces Monk to keep an open mind. They visit a doctor, an expert on leprosy named Aaron Polanski, who reassures Monk that there is minimal risk of contracting the disease. Monk agrees to talk to Bronson for a second time.

I chose this one because Monk has many different phobias and he also has OCD (found in Chapter 12). Everytime he shakes someone's hand, he has to use an wet wipe to clean his hand. He's always washing his hands and keeping everything in order for his thought of safety. He doesn't like for his food to touch when on his plate. He has phobias of milk, sand, snakes, flying, and many more. In this episode, he shook the man with leprosy hand. He had no idea about the man having the disease. When he found, he ran out the bar and ran all the way home. Monk decided that he was ok with the leprosy disease because it wasn't contagious but, when told that the leper called his house, he threw his telephone in the trash. He started thinking that the disease was spreading up his arm so he decided to set his had on fire.
